Hands-on in National Harbor: SC&RA 2016 Workshop

The SC&RA Crane and Rigging Workshop was — once again — a sold-out event. Many were not surprised, though: participation in the Exhibit Center for this preeminent meeting has sold out each of the last 15 years!

The Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association’s (SC&RA) workshop in National Harbor, MD, attracted more than 600 participants from 9 countries and 90 exhibitors, including Electric Guard Dog. Industry owners, managers, safety directors and sales professionals gathered for information sessions on safety, regulatory and consensus standards, best practices in business, maintenance and more during the three-day event.

Event Highlights

The keynote presentation by Dean McKenzie, Deputy Director of OSHA's Directorate of Construction, addressed pending rulings within the agency and the highly anticipated amendments to the Cranes and Derricks in Construction standard.

There were various hands-on and networking opportunities — from the mobile crane that AmQuip brought into the Gaylord Hotel so attendees could walk through the crane inspection process first-hand, to a cabling demonstration on wire rope behavior by Ropeblock B.V. There was even a First Timer’s Briefing that gave newcomers a chance to learn more about SC&RA and grab the spotlight. We took this much appreciated opportunity to engage with others and give a brief presentation on Electric Guard Dog, the #1 Theft Deterrent ServiceTM

From exhibit day to the evening reception, this was the place to connect with professionals in the crane, rigging and specialized transportation industries.
